Lymphedema is a treatable medical condition that requires life-long management. CDT is the recognized standard of treatment for lymphedema and includes the following four components:
- Manual Lymph Drainage
- Compression Therapy
- Decongestive Exercise
- Skin Care
It is important to incorporate all four components of therapy in order to be successful in managing lymphedema. Treatment occurs in two phases: intensive (frequent visits to clinic) and improvement (independent management at home).
Please contact Horizon Physical Therapy if you would like to refer a patient in need of lymphedema management. Tara can help set up a plan of care best suited for the patient’s needs.
